Wear Your Image IV

I spent one to two months creating this Jacquard piece. In a noisy and cramped Jacquard loom room, we used ten shades of grey threads to replace pixels with the interlacing of warp and weft, allowing the digital image to be reconstituted as a woven textile. I cannot express how beautifully it turned out.

When I showed the piece to my professor, she said, “This is very Yamamoto.” I replied, “Then I should wear it to the show in Paris.” She looked at me, slightly surprised, and asked, “Are you joking?” I said, “No. An hour ago, I received confirmation of my show ticket. I’m taking the Eurostar right after this tutorial.” The next day, I was wearing my Jacquard piece on the streets of Paris. The last photo was taken at the front row of the Yohji Yamamoto FW26 show during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
