From Artistic Identity to Creative Studio
Riddick Douglas Ning

Riddick Douglas Ning is a Hong Kong–born photographer and director currently based in London. He graduated from the MA Photography programme at the Royal College of Art in 2026, which he attended on The RCA President and Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship. His creative practice centres on concept-driven visual storytelling, underpinned by extensive commercial experience in fashion, editorial, and moving images.
In 2023, Ning paid a poetic tribute to Hong Kong with Where The Firework Dies, a project that captures the city’s transformation through an alternative narrative. The work showcases a wide range of photographic techniques and visual styles, successfully crowdfunded over HK$280,000, and resulted in his first photobook and a one‑month solo exhibition. It received extensive media coverage across newspapers, magazines, and digital platforms.
Ning first gained international recognition with Hong Kong Happenings in 2009, an award‑winning series that intertextualises iconic paintings to reflect on social phenomena and contemporary culture. The work won the Creative Media Award (Photography) and was exhibited at Les Rencontres d’Arles (France) and the Pingyao International Photography Festival (China).
